Energy Market Overview June 2014

Estonian and Finnish June average Day-Ahead price lower than in May, significantly higher than in April. Latvian and Lithuanian Day-Ahead prices grew also in June. Fenno-Skan-1, an undersea transmission cable connecting Finland and Sweden, was limited down to eighty percent of full capacity. Natural gas futures’ prices continued rapid growth in June. Price of crude oil rose to nine month high. Eesti Energia to sell distribution network construction company, Võrguehitus, to Leonhard Weiss. Electricity Day-Ahead prices mainly affected by planned maintenances of production plants and transmission cables. Carbon dioxide price showed fastest growth in second quarter since year 2008. Lower than normal hydro reservoir fill level forced northern European producers to lift electricity prices. Critical situation in Iraq increased crude oil price remarkably. Lower than expected economic indicators from USA took the dollar lower again.
